Interest Arbitration Awards

[ON] October 25, 2022; ORNGE v OPEIU Term of new agreement from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2023. General wage increases of 2% effective January 1, 2021, 2% effective January 1, 2022, and 3% effective January 1, 2023.

[ON] October 21, 2022; Ontario Public Service Employees Union, Local 566 v Michael Garron Hospital Term of new agreement is from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2022. General wage increases of 1% retroactive to April 1, 2019, 1% retroactive to April 1, 2020, and 1% retroactive to April 1, 2021.

[ON] October 18, 2022; Unifor, Local 1941 v Tilbury Manor Term of new agreement is three years from May 1, 2021 to April 30, 2024. General wage increases of 1.5% effective May 1, 2021,1.5% effective May 1, 2022, and 3% effective May 1, 2023.

[ON] October 6, 2022; Corporation of Norfolk County (Norview Lodge) v United Food and Commercial Workers, Local 175 Bargaining unit of nurses. Term of renewal agreement is July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2023. Wage increases of 1.8% effective July 1, 2020, 1.9% effective July 1, 2021, and 2.75% effective July 1, 2022.

[ON] October 5, 2022; Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 1748 v County of Northumberland (Golden Plough Lodge) CUPE represents approximately 217 employees in a service unit. Term of agreement from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2022. Wage increases of 1.75% effective January 1, 2021, 1.25% effective January 1, 2022, and 1.5% effective July 1, 2022.

[ON] October 4, 2022; Marianhill Inc. v Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3721 CUPE represents a bargaining unit of 5 Registered Nurses. The term of the renewal collective agreement is April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2022. Wage increases 1% in each of 2019, 2020, and 2021.

[ON] October 4, 2022; Dundas Manor Long Term Care Home v Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 2991 CUPE represents full-and part-time service bargaining unit of 81 employees. Three year renewal agreement from April 1, 2019 to March 31. 2022. Wage increases of 1% effective April 1, 2019, April 1, 2020, and April 1, 2021.

[ON] October 2, 2022; Participating Nursing Homes v Service Employees’ International Union Local 1, Canada SEIU represents approximately 14,000 services employees in LTC homes across Ontario. Two-year renewal agreements from 2022 to 2024. Wage increases of 3% for 2022 and 3% for 2023 for for-profit homes.

Labour Arbitration Awards

[ON] October 26, 2022; Corporation of the County of Norfolk (Haldimand-norfolk Health Unit) v Ontario Nurses’ Association Supplemental award resolving issues concerning the calculation of overtime.

[ON] October 11, 2022; Ontario Shores v Ontario Public Service Employees’ Union, Local 331 Arbitrator concluded that the Employer’s decision to release the grievor from probationary employment was arbitrary. Grievance upheld and grievor awarded damages.
